Competing for Customers – Jell-O: America's Most Famous Dessert (2024)

Introduced in 1897, Jell-O soon captured a large share of the gelatin market with its national advertising campaigns. In this advertisem*nt, General Foods Corporation focused on the quick preparation of its product. Now cooks did not need to wait for their water to boil when preparing Jell-O!

Royal Gelatin took advantage of customer concerns about the purity and freshness of their food. Royal also highlighted their product's fresh flavor, the result of rapid delivery to local grocers.
