Who’s in The Nun 2 cast?
Bonnie Aarons returned as Valak (aka: the Nun) for the cast of The Nun 2, and she’s not the only familiar face. Taissa Farmiga also reprised her role as Sister Irene.

The Nun 2 release date and reviews
The Nun 2 was released in cinemas on Friday, September 8, 2023, and receivedmiddling reviews.
In our own The Nun 2 review, Emma-Jane Betts wrote that “The Nun 2 is a massive improvement from its 2018 predecessor but is ultimately hampered by its script and abundance of cheap scares.”
Elsewhere, critics said that The Nun II feels a little one-note, and also mentioned that while it might have been an improvement on its predecessor, it still doesn’t mark an uptick for the franchise.
Mark Kennedy from Associated Press wrote that The Nun 2 was “amovie that seems destined to pound a nail into this franchise’s undead coffin,” while Bloody Disgusting‘s Meagan Navarro wrote that it “makes for a livelier entry that stumbles in its excess and can’t capture what made Valak so scary in the first place.”

The Nun 2’s first trailer dropped on July 6, 2023, giving us a proper look atthe return of Valak.
The trailer has a pretty ominous opening. We also got a real tease of Taissa Farmiga’s return as Sister Irene. Creepy statues, religious imagery, and nuns abound in this first look. Watch for yourself below:
What’s The Nun 2 about?
The Nun 2 follows Sister Irene, living a secluded life in an Italian convent, but her peaceful life comes to an end when she once again finds herself terrorized by the demon Valak who possesses her old friend Maurice.
She’s initially living in a new covenant but must return to battle Valak once again when she hears that religious figures all over France are dying under mysterious circ*mstances.
Of course, it’s not great news for Maurice, either, since the poor guy was possessed in the first movie, and now finds himself in the clutches of Valak, taking the demon from church to church, and eventually landing up at a girls’ boarding school.
Where can I watch The Nun 2?
You can watch The Nun 2 in theaters now.
After that, it’s likely to follow the same release pattern as the first movie, meaning it will eventually become available on the streaming service Max (formerly known as HBO Max). The good news is that, along with the September release date, we may even seeThe Nun 2 streamingon VOD services by Halloween.
This is based on the fact that Warner Bros will be looking to release some content come Halloween, and with The Nun 2’s theatrical window closing, it makes sense that we’ll see it on Amazon come late October.
Are Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga in The Nun 2?
The Nun 2 will be set in the ’50s and take place after the events of the last movie. So don’t expect to see the Warrens in the main plot.
That said, if you feel like sticking around for The Nun 2 post-credit scene, you may be pleasantly surprised. And that’s all we’re saying about that!
