'The Pioneer Woman' Film Crew Is Back! Here's the Latest on the Cooking Show (2024)

Ree Drummond is bidding farewell to her film family. Well… they're still her family, but they'll no longer be filming.

For the last two years, Ree's daughters, son-in-law, and nephew have been filming her Food Network show with great success. They stepped in when the pandemic hit and her usual film crew could no longer help. Thankfully, she had a pretty talented live-in team—also known as her children. 😂

With more than 70 episodes under their belt, the Drummond kids have learned a lot about what it takes to film a show—and they've created some unforgettable memories doing it. (Like that time a rat made a guest appearance!) But now that Alex is married, Paige has graduated college, and Ree's crew from the U.K. is finally able to travel again, there are some changes coming to the set of The Pioneer Woman.

So how will the show be filmed? We've got the answers! Ree shared the rundown on what's new on the TV front. "The kids and I are wrapping up our two-year adventure of self-shooting my cooking show," she said. And while it's sure to be bittersweet to say goodbye, there are some exciting new things in the works ahead. Read on to find out more:

The London crew is back!

"As you may know, when the pandemic unfolded in 2020, my London crew wasn't able to travel here, so with the support of the network, my kids stepped in with iPhones and tried their hand at TV production," Ree explained.

Alex and Paige operated the main cameras, while Ree's nephew Stuart and her son-in-law Mauricio were the photographers. "In between recipes, it's all hands on deck—the kids help clear out the dishes and food from one recipe and help set up the other. It's a team effort!"

They also had help with shopping, tech, and sound for a total of eight people on set at any given filming day.

"It's been such a unique experience for the kids and me," Ree said. "Talk about memories!"

But starting this summer, Ree's original London film team will be traveling back to Pawhuska for the first time in two years! "I'm so happy my old crew gets to come back this summer to start shooting again, and I'm excited to create a new version of The Pioneer Woman."

In the past, Ree's U.K. crew was close to 15 to 20 people, so it's sure to be different from the small family affair she's been used to.

Where will the show be filmed?

They'll still be filming at The Lodge and maybe we'll even get to see those beloved cowboy scenes around the ranch again.

"The Lodge holds a lot of people, and working there also allows me to 'go home' at the end of the day and plop on the sofa!"

So, what will change? Don't worry, it's still going to have the same antics we know and love. The new format of the show will have the "quality and detail of the original show but also the spontaneity that came from filming with the kids." Sounds like the best of both worlds! 🙌
