Troll Control is an optional Side Quest in Hogwarts Legacy that you'll receive after speaking to the Brocburrow resident, Alexandra Ricketts. Alexandra explains that she's been trying to train a troll to protect Brocburrow from Ranrok's forces, but that it hasn’t exactly gone according to plan. The residents of Brocburrow are asking that the troll be put down but Alexandra fears that she won't have the strength or courage to subdue the troll so you’ll be tasked with defeating the Infamous Foe, Alexandra’s Troll.

Troll Control Side Quest

When you reach the Brocburrow Hamlet, search for the home just north of the local Floo Flame and you'll find Alexandra Ricketts worriedly pacing outside her home. After speaking to Alexandra and receiving this quest, head southeast of Brocburrow to reach the map marker shown below.

Before diving into battle against Alexandra’s Troll, consider restocking your Potions and Combat Tools to ensure you’re not overwhelmed by the beast and adjust your Spells to prepare for the brawl.

How to Defeat Alexandra's Troll

When taking on the Infamous Foe, Alexandra's Troll, you should prioritize equipping spells that match your unique playstyle, but we recommend that you use ranged attacks capable of stunning the troll mid-attack such as Confringo, Ancient Magic Throw, and Bombarda. Glacius is another valuable spell against Alexandra's Troll as slowing the beast down effectively eliminates the threat of its charge attack.

Regardless of the spells you use in this battle, it is vital that you capitalize on the weaknesses in the troll's moveset. One of the attacks you can use to your advantage is a combo that begins with two swings that cannot be blocked and ends with an overhead slam that can be parried rather consistently. This allows you to counter the attack and stun Alexandra's Troll with Stupefy. Secondly, when charging, the troll runs for an extended period of time even if you evade the attack. This often results in Alexandra's Troll running into objects, trees, or rocks before getting heavily stunned. Take advantage of this window to blast your foe with as many strikes as possible to build your combo meter and farm Ancient Magic.

Once you've defeated Alexandra's Troll, return to the Brocburrow Hamlet and speak to Alexandra to complete this quest and collect your reward!
