God Of War: How To Defeat Trolls (Tips, Tricks, & Strategies) (2024)

InGod of War,one of the types of reoccurring mini-bosses that Kratos and Atreuswill need to consistentlydefeat throughout the story are trolls. The trolls inGod of Warare towering creatures that can easily be mistaken for giants, but their tusks and stone totem make them distinguishable from all other species in the game. Each troll's stone totem is engraved with a specific rune that grants them their unique elemental power, such as the ability to throw fireballs.

Kratos and Atreus need to be on their toes during each troll fight in order to ensure their survival. Although trolls are slow throughout the God of War story, Kratos and Atreuscan receive incapacitating damage from a single blow. In total, there are 10 trolls that Kratos and Atreus will need to defeat as they travel across the realms. Additionally, the elemental strength of a troll is indicated by the intensity of the runic glow on their stone totem and bodies.

Each troll's elemental abilities give them a unique advantage over Kratos and Atreus inGod of War.For example, fire trolls can throw fireballs created from their hands as well as melt the ground around them. In a similar fashion, frost trolls can freeze their surroundings and slam the ground to send ice shard projectiles towards Kratos and Atreus. Like all enemies, trolls will become easier to defeat as players upgrade a variety of skills in God of War for Kratos.

The main attacks to look out for from all trolls are the ground stomp and stone totem slam, which can easily stun Kratos after a single hit in God of War. However, because trolls move so slowly, Kratos and Atreus have plenty of opportunities for uninterrupted attacks as the trolls try to regain their footing from the previous attack. For the elemental attacks, Kratos will need to be mindful ofhis close distance to the trollsthat may leave him susceptible to any area-of-effect attacks. Occasionally, a well-placed arrow or thrown Leviathan Axe can stagger a troll, leaving them wide open for a more powerful move.

Some of the best Leviathan Axe upgrades in God of Warcan allow Kratos to deal massive damage to trolls, like the Executioner's Cleave. Additionally, there are plenty of mobility-based Leviathan Axe upgrades that become available as players earn more Frozen Flames throughoutGod of War. A few of these moves see Kratos quickly throw the Leviathan Axe as he dodges backward or a quick and hard-hitting axe swing as the God of War sprints towards the trolls. Avoid the trolls' major attacks indicated by their wind-ups, and Kratos should find the perfect amount of openings to defeat more trolls quickly and easily inGod of War.
