Darnell, also known as D, is a member of the Funky Family, being one of the twin princes of the Funk Trolls. Because of his title, he is also known as Prince Darnell or Prince D. He first appeared in Trolls World Tour. He also appeared in Trolls: Holiday in Harmony as a supporting character. He also appeared in Trolls Band Together as a minor character.

He greatly resembles Cooper, who is his twin brother. While Cooper normally has a wide-eyed goofy expression on his face, D has a more chilled, laid-back one.
Otherwise, the differences is that like his father King Quincy he has gold tinsel-like fur on his neck. He has shorter and thicker dreadlocks than Cooper, which appear to have rings of gold on them. D also wears an earring on his left ear, which matches the one worn by his father. He also doesn't have buck teeth like Cooper has.

Prince D is normally amiable and chill. He is welcoming to other Trolls, but is reluctant to trust them unless he gets to know them, especially the Pop Trolls. He's open to befriending different kinds of Trolls, as he considers himself to be Hip hop rather than just Funk, and accepts his brother Cooper considering himself both Pop and Funk after Cooper said that one doesn't have to be just one thing.
He's also an encouraging guy, as he is the first to invigorate Cooper to make music, supporting him by making his own tunes as well.

Branch and Prince D get along great. When they first meet in Vibe City, Prince D said about the map being outdated and Branch said, “Oh, he’s right look at that. It still has disco.” In Just Sing, he and Branch sing together, along with the Tribal Leaders. He is also seen singing with Branch in Don't Slack and both Funk Twins were seen together in his bunker during Trolls: Holiday in Harmony as Branch built his gift for Poppy.

After meeting his long lost twin, the pair get along really well. They are seen together at the end of Trolls World Tour and Trolls: Holiday in Harmony. He is also seen with Cooper at Bridget's wedding in Trolls Band Together, implying that since they met, they haven't parted ways.
King Quincy and Queen Essence[]
Prince D grew up raised by a pair of loving parents who adored their remaining child. They were cautious in their approach on the subject of Cooper and his aduction as an egg and mindful of his thoughts and feelings on the subject, only telling him when they thought he was old enough to understand.

Over the course of the franchise, Cooper has named several members of his family. In Trolls, he mentioned having an uncle; since Cooper didn't know of his Funk Troll family at the time, this uncle was likely adopted and therefore not related to Prince D. However, in the Trolls: TrollsTopia episode "Fastest Draw in the West", Cooper said that he has two cousins named Eddy and Freddy. In this case, it's unknown if these cousins are part of his adoptive family or Funk family, and thus if they're also relatives of Prince D.

As Prince of the Funk Trolls, it was likely that one day he would have had to protect his music, including the purple string of Funk. But now he doesn't have to worry about that anymore, since the Troll Tribes no longer need the Strings to represent their music after their reunification.
Prince D is a Funk Troll, but due to the Funk genre's evolution over time, it has eclipsed other genres. As D explains, it is possible for Trolls to cover other genres as well as their Tribe's own music. D is Funk by birth, but also grew to be part-Hip hop as a result of this, though this is different to his brother Cooper, who's Funk by birth and Pop as a result of being raised by the Pop Trolls. Along with Cooper, he showed that Trolls can make music of their own (without the Strings) by beat-boxing to Cooper's heartbeat in the song Just Sing. Also in the song, Cooper's heart glows pink, indicating he is attuned to Pop music, whereas Darnell's glows purple due to his attunement to Funk.

In Trolls World Tour, Prince D was seen using a hoverboard when the Rock Trolls attacked Vibe City, paired up with headphones.

Age and Birth Details[]
According to concept art, D's brother Cooper is at least older than a teenager, which would make him at least twenty years old. This would in turn be D's age too.
D's star sign is Capricorn.[2] Capricorn is the star sign that follows Cooper's Sagittarius on the rotation. Since the two are twins, this means that Cooper hatched at least a day earlier than D, and the pair were born on either side of the edge of the two star signs, thus ending up with different star signs. This also means they have different birthdates.
This is noted in Trolls World Tour, as Cooper hatched almost immediately after his egg was dropped in the sky. As he wasn't stolen nor did his egg experience such fall, D likely hatched when he was due compared to Cooper. In addition, unlike Cooper, D is much more mentally capable, while Cooper shows intellectual deficiencies, which prematurely-born babies have a higher chance to develop later in life. Thus, this implies that Cooper is older than D due to being prematurely born but while Prince D is a normal Funk Troll, Cooper has a permanent learning issue.

- In his hand poster for Trolls World Tour, he's represented with a normal 4-fingered hand. However, as a quadrupedal Funk Troll, he only has 3 digits per limb.
- He and Tiny Diamond are the only characters who debuted in Trolls World Tour to return in Trolls Band Together.
